MyMac Podcast – Macworld Expo day 1 – In the Groove at the Macworld Expo

It’s day 1 so the gang is in full swing covering the Expo. We complain about hotel WiFi, Guy’s problem remembering things that prevent him from actually doing work, and we talk about some of the developers we saw. Another conversation with Larry from OWC and floor show interviews! It’s just like being here except without the long flight and bad food!

The World’s Oldest Apple Dealer’s Final Day

It all started in 1941. Maury and Betty Zuckman opened a little radio repair shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1977 a brand new company named Apple Computer struck its first ever dealership agreement for sales of the Apple II with the then-named Team Electronics. By 1987 FirstTech, which switched names two years before, dropped sales of stereo equipment in favor of becoming a full time Apple dealer. Now, on March 29, 2014, FirstTech’s doors have closed forever. A victim of increasing pressure from national retailers and service providers. 37 years as an Apple Specialist, 73 in total, was a pretty darn good run.

iPad Animation – iBook Review

At first glance iPad Animation How to Make Stop Motion Movies On The iPad with iStopMotion, GarageBand, and iMove by Craig Lauridsen looks like a giant advertisement or manual for the iPad app iStopMotion by Boinx Software. However, as you get further into the book it is much more. It is a great book on stop motion animation that has tips and techniques that can be used with any software, even though iStopMotion is the software used and explained in the book.

DOES Apple need to release an actual Apple TV?

The quick answer is no. The longer answer is HELL no! However that rarely stops bloggers with little else to do (apparently) from talking incessantly about how Apple should not only release an actual Apple-branded Television set, but it should be 4K! And sparkly! With rainbows shooting out of its butt!

Just Mobile HoverPad – Review

I know, I know… a mouse pad is just a mouse pad. Yet how many of you have gone through pad after pad because you were just a bit frugal in your thought process or your budget and you bought the one that was on sale or the one that had that cute picture that grabbed your attention?

Korus Wireless Speakers – Review

There was a time, before iPods, when we would put a CD in our big home stereo, sit down, relax, and listen to music. What a concept listening to music, out in the open. That has mostly gone away. We listen to music with earphones, in our cars, at the gym, in the background, whenever time permits. We lead busy lives without enough time to relax.

The Hub – Review

Are you a MacBook Air owner like me? Then Im sure youve come across a deficit of ports when you need them. You plug in a USB drive, then you use the Apple E-Net (Ethernet) connector to connect to the web (because it is faster than wireless), and then you want to copy to a second external drive. What do you do? Well, the only thing you can do is copy from one drive to your Air and then plug and unplug the externals until you’ve made the copies you wanted. Only having two USB ports, and no built in E-Net port, on the Air can certainly limit some activities.

MyMac Podcast #498 – You won’t like me when I’m angry

Just two to five or more episodes until the 500th show! Can you feel the excitement in the air? If you can you should most likely go see a doctor since solid emotions in your nostrils is probably not a good thing. A certain groups proposal (number 9, number 9,number 9,) seemed to really hack off Tim Cook at the last shareholders meeting, so Guy has a little chat with the founder of the NCPPR, Amy Ridenour to ask her about it. Please check the links below for the proposal itself and another to Ms. Ridenours blog about the incident. Gaz is looking for some better way to keep an iOS device on him to keep track of how much exercise he does and also a way to mount one in the kitchen. If only he could combine the two
