My Prediction for the iPhone OS

It is going to take over the world.

Seriously.

I’ve successfully predicted both the iPhone and the iPad months before they were made public for sale.

Now I am predicting that the iPhone OS, which is on both the iPhone, the iPod Touch and the iPad, will ultimately become the only OS that matters in computing. (Yeah, that also means that Macs and iPads will be the main computers of choice by just about everybody.)

Witness, over the next few years, this OS evolving into the one that is used by the Macintosh, either replacing the Mac OS X. Either that, or OS X will evolve into an iPhone OS clone.

Why?

Because the iPhone OS on the iPad has become the best OS ever written.

When it jumps to the Mac, that means that the touch paradigm will also move to the Mac.

Which means that the Mac will shrink in size and weight until it resembles the iPad, in other sizes and configurations. This will happen as Apple succeeds in making a touch screen that can give the full tactile sensation of a keyboard on the screen itself.

That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it

Love, Roger
