If my students are any indication, Apple has a lot of marketing to do with the iPad

For those that aren’t a regular reader of my articles, I am a middle school and high school art teacher. I regularly ask my students what they think about new Apple products when they come out. I even asked my students about teh Zune when it came out. That question got a unanimous “huh?”

Anyway, the latest topic has been the iPad. Reaction amongst my students has been mixed. Some think it is really coo, but the majority don’t understand teh point. Most are saying “It is just a giant iPod Touch, what is the point?”

I don’t know what the teenage reaction is across the rest of the country, but if my students are any indication Apple needs to come up with a great ad campaign to get the teen market on board (or just the general market).

Of course, back when the iPod came out I was the one saying “What is the point?” Now I am on my 4th or 5th iPod. We’ll see if the iPad is as popular as the iPod in a few years.
