What broke the Camel’s Back?

YOU HAVE TO BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD TO READ THIS ARTICLE

We have an old Arabic proverb that emphasize being fed up, “The straw that broke the camel’s back”

I will get back to that later, now let me tell you a little about me, I have multiple certificates focused on supporting the Windows platform, ranging from networking, programing, advance application, and core technologies, to make this short and dandy, I am the guy who you would want to call when you have a problem with your Windows machine.

One fine day I switched to the Mac, it felt like being reborn digitally, I hardly touched my PC since that day.

One day a friend asked me for a fix to a Windows related problem he had, I told him that I will look it up on my PC to see the exact steps, I fired-up my Dell laptop, while looking through the application he had issues with, Windows update started downloading something.

I looked into my “Control” panel preferences, because I remember clearly that I asked the operating system (Windows) not to even check for anything, I was right the option was not to check automatically for anything, Strange?

I clicked on the updater, it showed me a bubble with the progress of the download.

“Okay, don’t panic” I thought, “all I have to do is right click on the thing and ask it to stop”, it wouldn’t respond, it wanted to update whether I liked that or not.

“Fine have it your way” I thought, a while later a dialogue comes up asking me to restart so that the update could be installed.

“Don’t restart” I thought while clicking on the cancel button.

A minute later another dialogue comes up saying that “Windows will restart in 4:00 minutes… 3:59… 3:58… and counting”

“Cancel, you’re not a nuclear silo!”

Another minute passed, another dialogue “Windows will restart in 3:00… 2:59… 2:58… “I said Cancel!” while grinding my teeth.

Another minute went by, and you guessed it “Windows will restart in 2:00… 1:59…”

“Okay, you piece of junk! Restart, have it your way” I gave up clicking on the restart button.

The system restarted and came up with the Windows flag thing while the bar loaded, after it fully started, I clicked on the Start button… six minutes later (yes 6 I timed it) it popped up.

Hmm that doesn’t look right, I double clicked on a folder it took Windows 6 to 7 minutes to open it.

“That’s it you worthless piece of…!” I was furious “YOU ARE HISTORY!”

I pulled a Ubuntu CD, that was sent to me and shipped to Saudi Arabia free of charge, slammed it in the CD bay and asked Linux to nuke the whole drive and remove all the crap that called its self Windows, I don’t want to see that Ugly flag, I don’t want to click the stupid green Start button any more, I had enough, that was the straw that broke the camels back.

Now if anyone (friends or family fall under “anyone” category) asks me to support or fix any Windows related issue they will have to pay me to sit in front of its screen looking at its dull ugly icons, This camel is a 100% Mac now.

PS. I read that Microsoft are buying love, by sending bloggers top-notch laptops, so that they would be kind to Vesta, if I am lucky enough to get a Free laptop from them, I will nuke it with Linux.
