Today, BusinessWeek posted an article about how things are looking up for Apple Education Sales, http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/mar2004/tc2004033_0360_tc056.htm. The article by Alex Salkever is sadly full of hollow examples, however, the author at least does mention in two paragraphs the mistakes Apple has made with education in the past few years.
Sadly, MacObserver posted a column that cheerleads the comments and states, “Since then, however, Apple has really been firing on all cylinders in the education arena.” My jaw almost dropped to the floor, what parallel universe are they in. You can read there statements here:

Usually, I have found MacObserver to right on in their “Spin” judgements on issues. Below is what I posted in the comment section. You be the judge.
You have got to be kidding. Apple Education is a disaster, period!! With the exception of mass email I have not heard word one from a live Apple rep at my school in over two years. Apple used to hold seminars both general new gadgets and techy “Chalk talks”. Neither exist anymore. Face facts, big laptop sales to a few districts do not make up for the massive quiet exodus of districts due to a lack of attention from truly dumbass decisions made at the top. The only place for Apple in K-12 education is in video-editing,
At various times as a writer for www.mymac.com I have lamented and offered potential solutions for Apple in education. Unfortunately, Steve Jobs has let education whither, under the assumption that the G3 iMac and the eMac would rescue education sales without proper sales support. The results are in and K-12 education sales are all but sideline issue.
