A Father’s Day Conversation

I called my dad yesterday to wish him a happy Father’s Day. As always we had a nice conversation. He told me about the raffle at his annual church picnic. He said that many local businesses donated raffle prizes, such as the locker which donated four half hogs. There was a lady from the city whose mother attended his church, but the mother had recently passed away. Her daughter, who is a jewelry maker, wanted to honor her mother, so she made a beautiful brushed silver bracelet with inset cultured pearls and garnets to donate as a raffle prize.

Dad won the bracelet, and his wife wore it to church on Father’s Day and received many compliments. I asked dad if he was pleased to have won the bracelet. He replied that it’s always fun to win something, but he would have rather had the half hog.
