Ten One Design’s Pogo Stylus – Review

Ten One Design’s Pogo Stylus (for iPhone 3G, iPhone and iPod Touch)
Company: Ten One Design

Price: $19.95 USD

Actual situation… driving down the highway, doing the posted speed limit (plus a few miles) and traffic is pre-rush hour and what happens? A text message from my son. Well, I know enough not to even try answering him even if my texting capabilities were as good as his. (bedsides one should not be texting while driving!) So, I do the next best thing. I hand it to my wife and tell her to respond. What happened? She couldn’t respond back because of her nails. So I wound up calling him to respond to his query. Problem was that where he texted me from, he could not answer the phone call.

Fast forward to the present, rewind the scenario and start again. Instead of not being able to respond, my wife is now able to respond utilizing Ten One Design’s Pogo Stylus. The stylus permits one to utilize the anodized aluminum stylus, 3 1/2” x 1/4”, in lieu of your finger. Now for those young ones who were raised on text messaging, the stylus might not be your cup of tea. However, for someone with nails, someone who may need an adjunct due to a disability or an injury, or just someone who can’t master the knack of using one’s thumbs in a clearly, coordinated manner to easily respond to a text message, the Pogo may be your answer.

Designed for use with the iTouch, the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G, the stylus permits one to quickly respond to a text message, permitting the user to “type” faster, as it were. The soft foam-like tip on the end doesn’t scratch the surface nor does it bring greasy build up. The package also includes a clip that attaches to the iPhone/iTouch allowing you to have the stylus always there and ready to go. Now, on the surface, it seems like a really good idea with the clip, however, if one places their iPhone in a case, the clip is not going to attach to the unit. So, for those of you who remain case-less, and are in need of additional help in texting, the clip and the stylus may be your answer.

I myself found the Pogo stylus easy to use, gave me a more error-free text message capability and a faster response. For those of you out there with issues with age catching up to you (yeah, I’m one…) and tightness in your hands and/or fingers, you may wish to take a look at the Pogo stylus as a means to still remain up-to-speed, as it were.

The Pogo stylus comes in Black, Silver, Gun Metal and Cranberry colors, so you all will have to make another choice. There is no learning curve, you’ll pick it up and start texting right away, no problem. Priced at $19.95, that may cause you some thought as to whether it’s worth the price or it is better to just trim your nails. Now, to be fair, I did try just using a pencil, eraser end… doesn’t work at all.

So to review:

Pro: Easy to use, comes in several colors. Texting is faster, more accurate.

Cons: Price may deter some folks from purchasing. Another thing to consider is that this is a small item that can easily get lost, even if you are diligent in maintaining control. I ought to know… mine got legs and disappeared.
Still recommended for those who may need assistance in texting!

My Mac rating: 3.5 out of 5.
