USB-2 is not as fast as FireWire 400, and don’t let anybody convince you otherwise. When you need fastest possible movement of data, FW800 is the way to go. Under typical home or office circumstances, USB-2 is adequate.

Safari – Your Internet Control Center
Recently, a coworker had problems downloading email attachments from Thunderbird. The program wanted to save the file to the Desktop of another user on the computer. I searched through Thunderbird’s preferences numerous times for a download location and I could not find anything that would fix the problem. I figured it was a Thunderbird bug. Then I was in Safari’s preferences and found what I was looking for.

Read MoreInside the Machine
Book Review
Inside the Machine is a book about computers, specifically, how they work as machines. It isn’t a book about software and operating systems, and neither is it a book about the history of computers either. It isn’t a picture-book of classic computers, and it isn’t a repair manual. Readers looking for any of these things will be disappointed.
Read MoreEducation and Technology- A Look at the Interwrite Software Package
What is Interwrite? It is software that allows the teacher to, simply put, write on anything on the monitor of the computer. There are highlighter and pen tools which draw on top of any window without interfering with what is below that layer.

I’ve had an original first gen ipod mini for several years now. I have not replaced it with a newer iPod, simply because it provides everything I need an iPod for, and that is music. But with dying battery, what is an iPod owner to do?
Read MoreSlyder for iPod Nano
Review
I’ve had the opportunity to review several Marware iPod cases in the past, and each case I have reviewed has put a unique twist on the iPod case. It is usually a feature that no other case has. The Slyder for iPod Nano (2nd generation) is another Marware case that presents another new concept for an iPod case.

Three types of interchangeable tips (foam, double-flange, and single-flange) and three sizes of the latter are included, to help you determine which tips fit and sound best for your situation. Triple.fi 10 Pro are true "26 dB" noise-isolating earphones, meaning when tips are fully-inserted you hear the audio from your iPod or other sound source, and very little ambient noise.

The Reflect case for the iPod with Video and the 2nd Gen iPod Nano is hard shell case that protects your iPod with a touch of style. I had the chance to try the Nano model, but I imagine the full sized model would not be much different.

Read MoreSleevz and ScreenSavrz for MacBook and MacBook Pro
Review
Keeping your MacBook or MacBook Pro looking shiny and new isn’t easy. Accidental bumps cause the keys to touch the screen, at the least letting grease from your fingers get onto the LCD and at worst actually causing unsightly scratches. Neale takes a look at two of Radtech’s solutions: the Sleevz and ScreenSavrz.

Wow. That was the first thing out of my mouth after I tried the XtremeMac Airplay Boost FM transmitter for the 5th generation iPods. I later tried the second generation Nano Airplay Boost. I was equally as impressed. Both models "hijacked" the radio station I had them tuned too, and gave a clear, static free sound.

Review
If you haven’t heard of Manga Studio before reading this review, you probably aren’t the only one. I hadn’t heard of it either, until I was asked to review it. Manga Studio is a program designed to help you make comic books or comic book pages on your computer from scratch. It basically takes all of the steps and tools of making a professional comic page (sketch, inking, shading, lettering, etc.) and combines it all into one program. Being an art teacher and an artist, it looked interesting. I’m always up for another art tool. Did it live up to my expectations? Read on.
