A teacher and a plan book go together like peanut butter and jelly. The problem with a traditional plan book is that it is one more thing to carry around or lose. I’ve been searching for a digital plan book for years, and I think I finally found the right one. Planbook by Hellmansoft is a plan book for your Mac (it works on Windows, too) that is easy to use and affordable. The developer, Jeff Hellman, has done a great job in making this a fully useable digital plan book. I guess being a teacher himself had a lot to with that.

MPEG-4 is rapidly becoming the standard format for video and rightfully so, as it offers great video quality and small file sizes. It is supported by iPod with Video, AppleTV, PSP and many other devices, however compressing videos to this format is a time consuming endeavor. On my Mac Mini converting a recorded movie can take all night. Elgato has come up with a USB device called Elgato Turbo.264, which speeds up the process very much indeed, read the review for full details.

Most of the time in most situations, this unusual one-piece speaker is very good at doing what it’s supposed to do: provide a pleasant, portable listening environment.

Taking halfway decent pictures of family and friends is always tricky. Stick with it, use lots of vertical framing, throw out your worst images, and spend time with the ones that have potential. Learn how to use your different flash settings. Have your camera strap on at ALL times.
