MacWorld Here I Come

Thanks to Tim and Nemo, I’ll be attending my first MacWorld conference, not only as a Mac user but as a writer and columnist.

I’ve always thought about attending past conferences but either the money wasn’t right or I had conflicting responsibilities. This upcoming event in January is perfect for starting the new year off right.

Attending this conference is part of my desire to deepen my knowledge of what’s happening in the Apple industry’”or should I say, culture?’”and write on a weekly basis about the books, new software and software updates that keep me a devoted fan.

I don’t see myself as a techie person’”don’t have the background’”but I seriously appreciate Apple helping me explore my creative side, whereby I’m not just a consumer of media but also a producer of it’”be it on a personal family level or as part of developing media production projects as a business.

As I have said many times before, Apple has built the tools of multimedia production and entertainment and made it accessible to people like me who didn’t have the training, money, or connections to do some really cool and powerful things with video, music, graphics, and photography.

I’m happy to be writing in the OS X era where the evolution of the Mac system has taken off as never before. OS X opened an entire new world for me in the area of computing, as I’m sure it has done for millions of other Mac jammers.

I’m not yet savvy enough to predict what Apple will be bustin’ out at MacWorld, but what’s more important to me is relationship building. I’m into how this conference brings passionate users together. It’s not just about buying new gadgets or upgrading the next piece of hardware, it’s more importantly about furthering the digital revolution’”the Apple way. Exploring our creativity, opening up ways for better communication, streamlining workflow, compositing images, music, and words to make something powerfully meaningful and beautiful’”this is what it means to “think different” and connect with those who want to make a difference.

So I look forward to meeting new people at this upcoming conference. Want to visit booths, learn about new products, and see and hear Jobs do what he does so well. I’ll be there with pen and paper in hand, taking notes, taking pictures, swapping ideas, and having a ball of fun.

MacWorld here I come.

Happy holidays everyone.
