Just When It Can’t Get Any Stranger

Apple Computer is now including a white two button mouse with all the Macintosh computers it is selling. It still looks like the traditional one button mouse.

Apple has had a one button mouse forever, it seems, so this is very new.

It is also very strange that all of a sudden they would come out with a two button mouse all by themselves.

Guess it was inevitable since Apple is going to intel. I mean, how could you use a one button mouse with Intel hardware?

But leave it to Apple to provide a superior two button mouse. Here is the blurb:

“Apple today introduced Mighty Mouse, its next generation mouse with several innovative new features that make using a Mac even more powerful and easy. Mighty Mouse features the revolutionary Scroll Ball that lets you move anywhere inside a document, without lifting a finger. And with touch-sensitive technology concealed under the seamless top shell, you get the programability of a four-button mouse in a single-button design. Click, roll, squeeze and scroll. This mouse just aced the maze.” -Source: Rohan News

What this means is that you still can press down on the mouse like the one button mouse to click. But there are also left and right side buttons flush with the sides of the new mouse, and there is a virtual scroll wheel on top of the new mouse. Amazing stuff.

You can now buy your very own Mighty Mouse from Apple for $49.

The world has wobbled, once again.

What’s next? A video iPod? The return of the Newton? An Apple cell phone?

Film at 11.
