Friday New iMac Update

Its Friday. The new iMacs are four days away from being announced.

Roger Born, premiere, legendary Apple whinner and Mac writer, has been missing for a few days now. Some have speculated as to his whereabouts, but others (somehow) are missing his jokes, er, umm, his prognostications.

BTW, my name is Pixl. I am Roger’s muse. Albeit, while I can from time to time provide him with story ideas, insights and ‘jokes,’ I cannot do the same for myself.

Therefore, I will give you only factual material here. I am sure the rest of you would likely appreciate that.

As a service to his readers (both of them), and anyone else who happens by, I want to help you if you are in need of some ‘Macintosh Speculation’ before we all enter that famous Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field next Tuesday.

After all, the unveiling of a new iMac and/or a new digital device from Apple is a true world-class event!

Here are the facts:

Apple VP Phil Schiller will deliver the keynote. Steve Jobs is still home calling in sick from his recent cancer surgery. Phil’s keynote is at 10:00 a.m. CET (12 Midnight Monday, PST!) and will announce new G5 iMacs, and maybe something else.

The new iMac G5 will be in an aluminum skin, and will be powered by IBM’s PowerPC 970 fx G5 processor. (It may or may not be an all-in-one Mac.)

If you want a new iMac, place your order as soon as the new iMac is up at Apple’s website. (Good Luck!)

Apple will incur heavy air-freight charges to fly the new iMacs from manufacturing plants in Asia over to Europe and the United States, to flood its retail channels.

Will Apple introduce any other new products? Recently, Apple cloaked itself and its Europe division in secrecy, and the many employees who will be at the expo remain in the dark about anything new.

There is a possibility that these new iMacs may still be delayed for release for a few weeks. No one will know until Tuesday’s keynote.

But what about all the speculation concerning the design of the new iMacs and/or astonishing new Apple products?

First. Steve Jobs will not be making the keynote. This bodes ill for any really earthshaking new iMac. Perhaps these new ones will not be all that exciting, except for the fact that they sport G5s. (Will there even BE a Reality Distortion Field?)

Second. Howsomever, Apple’s security is really, really good! All those hundreds of thousands of the new iMacs are just sitting around on a dock someplace, and nobody has gotten a picture yet! Of course this just fuels our hopes and dreams with jet fuel, right?

Therefore, bypassing all the mundane rumor sites, I want to give you the link to the most excellent site of pure Macintosh speculation. If you are a Mac junkie, you will love this graphic site!

Neither myself nor MyMac will take responsibility for any spontaneous seizures, fainting spells, orgasms, or general wigging-out from viewing the excellent creative 3D artwork on this site.

For the rest of you who do not particularly care about the new iMacs being introduced next week, (is this even possible?) – Here is another site that is equally enjoyable from the standpoint of offering non computer related Macintosh stuff.

Of course it costs double what such things normally cost, but then again, where can you get such things with a cool Apple logo?

Actually I have one of their cool steel cups, which is surrounded by translucent red plastic. It is excellent for holding the warm, black meade I so dearly love. (Beth, you should try it. I think you would like it too. It goes well with our junk food!)

In other news, – well, you already know all about all that. At least those of you do who are not totally Mac-junkies. (Olympics? What Olympics?)

Console yourself that its just FOUR MORE DAYS until you get your new Mac fix. In the meantime, try to enjoy your family, your friends, and your life. You got it better than you think.

Regards,
