Exxon Mobil, the world’s largest publicly traded Oil Company, reported on Thursday that profit rose 75 percent from a earlier, to $9.92 billion. Revenue rose 31.9 percent, to $100.7 billion.
And here I kinda, sorta believed that the triple threat Hurricanes had something to do with gas-gouging prices at the pump. Turns out, not so much. In fact, Exxon Mobil, from this evidence, took advantage of the suffering (and deaths, least we forget) these natural disasters caused to bump their profits 75%.
I am all for a company making money, that is what they are created to do. But this is beyond greed, beyond the stock price. This is profiteering to the extreme. And I think something needs to be done about wanton profiteering at the expense of an entire nation, if not the world.
Shame on Exxon Mobil.
