Photoshop Darkroom Creative Digital books – Review

Published roughly two years apart, these companion books are the equivalent of a one semester crash course in Photoshop. Both books are lavishly illustrated on quality stock. Both provide step-by-step instructions for achieving a wide range of effects in Photoshop. The tutorials do not cover everything there is to know in Photoshop. The focus appears to be a mix of simple tasks, like moving images from the camera to the computer, to the more complex, such as using LAB channel adjustments to change colors.

Quirky Crossover iPhone 5 Case – Review

As a rabid fan of wallet cases, I was delighted to review the Quirky Crossover iPhone 5 case.  The case protects the iPhone and allows a few credit or business cards to be stored under the intersecting straps. Quirky offers 12 colors, allowing the buyer to select the color combination for the two straps. The gray and orange straps of my review case were a lovely choice. The top strap has a hole for the camera lens. The bottom strap has a hole for the power button at the top and earbud at the bottom.

Distant Suns (max) – IOS App Review

As an amateur astronomer and a volunteer telescope operator at the Flandrau Science Center observatory, I enjoy sharing the night sky with the public. My primary objective, when inviting the public to look through the telescope, is to encourage them to enjoy viewing the heavens and to ask questions. I recognize that not everyone wants to be an astronomer and I certainly understand the magnitude of what is required to pursue a career in this profession.

30% profit just ain’t what it used to be – MyMac Podcast #455

Apparently is doomed (DOOMED I TELLS YA!) because while they had nearly 44 billion in sales, a profit of 9.5 billion, and margins of over 37%, it was less billions made in the same quarter last year. So other companies make little to no profit (but have enormous growth potential) Apple is expected to shatter sales, profit, and margins each and every quarter or the stock gets hammered. Yep, that makes sense.

Steelie Car Mount Kit – Review

I’m that kind of guy who gets excited about the little things, and when I say little things, I mean products like the Steelie Car Mount. Since I purchased my first car a couple of months ago I’ve found that I was always fussing with my phone while driving and we all know this can be very dangerous. I keep my phone plugged into the AUX jack so I can hear my synced music throughout my car. My only problem was when I wanted to change a song or do something on my phone I’d have to search for it while my eyes were on the road.
