LED Photo Studio Color Box Light With Infrared Remote Control – Review

This is my first review of a light source for photographers, so unless you’re already a professional light-source user, your experience should be similar to mine. The first thing I needed to do with the LED Photo Studio Color Box Light With Infrared Remote Control was mount it onto a tripod, or at least onto the ‘handle’ included in the box, because otherwise the four ‘flaps’ that cover the LED’s are difficult to manage with less than two free hands.

Muvo 2c Wireless Bluetooth Speaker – Review

Creative’s new Muvo 2c is a colorful Bluetooth speaker with a water-resistant, rubberized exterior. You can lounge near a pool and not worry about kids splashing water on it. It comes in black, red, blue, or lime green. Get the brighter unit, and you’ll never misplace it—even though it’s small enough to fit in the palm of an adult’s hand.

Lifecharge Lighthouse External Backup Power Pack – Review

The Lifecharge Lighthouse is a portable power supply that can recharge two devices at once. Its 13000 mAh battery can completely recharge an iPad that is down to zero, or an iPhone several times. I recently used it in a cabin in an isolated mountain range. My iPad went from zero to fully charged in roughly six hours and the battery pack still had power left over.

Apple out of gas?

So Apple had a lackluster 3rd quarter where they ONLY sold 40 million iPhones and ONLY made profits of nearly 8 billion. Yes, it was down from a year ago, but there’s no way Apple could have improved on the crazy gains made last year based on the iPhone 6 and 6+. Tech journalists love to bash Apple these days like it’s 1999 and while some of what they say is accurate, it’s also misleading.

Travel Tips for Techies (And Everyone Else) – Nemo Memo

I just returned from my fourth weekend trip taken during the past two months. Two journeys were by car and two were by airplane. I live in Tucson in southern Arizona. One trip each was to Nevada and northern Arizona, and two were to Marin County, north of San Francisco, California. The California flights were for family occasions, and both Nevada and northern Arizona were for sightseeing. Only the Arizona trip included other people: daughter and son-in-law. We took our small family dog with us on the sightseeing trips and also on the first California flights.
