All Music Special Edition

This stuff takes a while to load, on my computer it takes about 60 seconds to load everything but any particular ,errr, song will stream as quickly as you click it, on others systems… Well I’m not sure. The important thing to remember is that for a VERY quality listening experience patience is a virtue. Oh, let me know if you run across any other songs that are on the same stratospheric level as the ones below. Thanks.

Now that iTunes has kicked off in selected parts of Europe (no tunes for you Vatican City) it’s time to reflect on all the coolness that is iTunes. You can buy single tracks or entire albums without ever leaving your house. It’s an agorophobics dream. Unless you’re an agorophobic Beatles fan. Cause there’s no beatles stuff on the hard drives that are the iTunes music store.

Not having the Beatles is actually a fairly huge deal, I’m sure not everyone loves the Beatles but they left an indellible mark on popular music. from the early standard pop of songs like “I Want to Hold Your Hand” To the later drug soaked “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” the Beatles transformed themselves and a vast swatch of American mus…..

Wait, did I just mention “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”? Let me page up for a moment… Why yes I did. Since I mentioned the sense defying midbender of George, Paul, John and Ringo let me offer a little listening enjoyment via the best cover ever of Lucy, the diamonds, Sky song thingy.

I almost embedded that with autostart=true tag but last time I did that someone threatened to stab me in the eye with a fork. A spork, okay, but a fork is a little bit of overkill.

That’s a really great tune, I mean how can you not love that version of Lucy/Sky/Diamonds? Many covers just try to remake the tune without adding anything new at all, not old WS he really went the extra mile. The emotion, the pauses, the sheer auditory hell of it all.

Everyone deserves a second chance, everyone. Heck I’ve used up a great many second/third/last chances myself so here’s one more WS space themed special. That’s right Rocketman. Can WS beat Elton John? You Decide:

How about one more space song for the road. The really excellent Star Wars theme with a twist.

“It’s worse than that he’s dead Jim, dead Jim, dead Jim”
A bizarre Star Trek pop song. It really has to be heard to be believed. Ladies and gentlemen I give you:
Star Trekkin’

I suggest particulary brave readers wait for all the songs to load, crank the volume to 11 and start them all at once. It’s the auditory equivalent of speed enhanced. LSD addled mescaline head rush. Or perhaps it would be better to say it’s the sonic equivalent of being shot in the knee with a dangerously overpowered handgun. Either way when I tried the experiment the kid came over and started smacking the iBook, couldn’t blame him.

Finally from the credit where credit is due department these songs (and more) can be found at the excellent William Shatner Sings site.

That’s it for today, the old iBook battery is running on double secret super reserve power.

Well it just wouldn’t an entry without a game. I’m not a big fan of the left turn circuit I like the last fifty laps after the fellas are done driving and start racing but that’s about it. This game had me interested in every single lap. Wrecker. Highly recommended.
