I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but my Christmas will be in January, and that’s perfectly fine with me.
My beloved Publisher helped me get a press pass to MacWorld Expo in San Francisco, and my son, who is going too, bought my plane ticket, so I won’t have to drive 8 hours one way just to get there.
I get to (try) to go to the keynote too. I hear they start lining up around Midnight on Monday to get in the doors of this first-come-first-seated event.
You might think my Christmas will be sitting within Steve Job’s Reality Distortion Field, and you would be partly right.
I suspect, all hype (and pink Hello Kitty iPods) aside, that there will be announced a new flash-based iPod, and/or a new iPod/Motorola cellphone also using a flash drive.
Either of these will be good for downloading a dozen songs from your trusty Mac or wobbly PC. Or they could both be the same thing – a single device – as various rumor-pundants have speculated about Apple getting into both or either of these huge markets. Part of the fun of Christmas is all the anticipation, and waiting to see, right? Hope I find one of them under my seat!
But the best part of my Christmas will be seeing all my buds at MyMac.com. Some of them I have known for years, but we have never met face to face.
I know I am going to enjoy every minute with these kind and brilliant friends, basking in each of their unique writer’s fields, so filled with humor, charm, and insightfulness.
I feel like a very rich man, having such friends and fellow Mac lovers. But then, I am very blessed too, getting to know so many of you readers! For you also share in this particular passion for these special computers and their tiny iPod counterparts, not only for their beautiful world-class industrial designs, but for the unique way these machines enable us all to somehow be more than we knew we could be.
Thank you in advance, one and all, for giving me a most memorable and blessed Christmas in January!
Regards and Happy Holidays,
Roger Born
