Have you ever been in a hotel that only had a wired connection for the Internet? Maybe the hotel had Wi-Fi , but only the wired connection was free? Believe it or not, there are still hotels and resorts that are like this. I recently took a trip to such a resort where the only free Wi-Fi was in the lobby. It all started in 1941. Maury and Betty Zuckman opened a little radio repair shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1977 a brand new company named Apple Computer struck its first ever dealership agreement for sales of the Apple II with the then-named Team Electronics. By 1987 FirstTech, which switched names two years before, dropped sales of stereo equipment in favor of becoming a full time Apple dealer. Now, on March 29, 2014, FirstTech’s doors have closed forever. A victim of increasing pressure from national retailers and service providers. 37 years as an Apple Specialist, 73 in total, was a pretty darn good run.

At first glance iPad Animation How to Make Stop Motion Movies On The iPad with iStopMotion, GarageBand, and iMove by Craig Lauridsen looks like a giant advertisement or manual for the iPad app iStopMotion by Boinx Software. However, as you get further into the book it is much more. It is a great book on stop motion animation that has tips and techniques that can be used with any software, even though iStopMotion is the software used and explained in the book.

With this being show 499, you’d think the next one would be 500…or the one after that…nope. This IS however the last Gaz and Guy show before the Macworld Expo so get ready for fun. Guy has problems with multiple Apple IDs and has to go to Apple Support to get them fixed, Gaz has problems with Rugby, his Mac, and Airports, but it may have all been in hs head. There was a time, before iPods, when we would put a CD in our big home stereo, sit down, relax, and listen to music. What a concept listening to music, out in the open. That has mostly gone away. We listen to music with earphones, in our cars, at the gym, in the background, whenever time permits. We lead busy lives without enough time to relax.

Are you a MacBook Air owner like me? Then Im sure youve come across a deficit of ports when you need them. You plug in a USB drive, then you use the Apple E-Net (Ethernet) connector to connect to the web (because it is faster than wireless), and then you want to copy to a second external drive. What do you do? Well, the only thing you can do is copy from one drive to your Air and then plug and unplug the externals until you’ve made the copies you wanted. Only having two USB ports, and no built in E-Net port, on the Air can certainly limit some activities.
