(Sorry Bruce – Couldn’t resist this one!)
Out here in the beautiful high desert around Mojave California, sixteen grand will buy you an attractive modular home set up on a pad, on your own lot, on a paved street, and all utilities hooked up.
The modern home is a well designed 1400 square feet, with a finished and painted sheet rock interior. Outside it boasts a paneled exterior and asphalt roofing. Its cost is $9000.
The lot is one-fourth acre on a cul-de-sac with a sidewalk and paved street. Its cost is $2500.
Set up for the foundation of the modular on a concrete slab with utility hookups is $3500.
The balance of the $16,000 is for a carport and covered patio.
Landscaping is your own cost. Many people here prefer the desert blooms of wildflowers and aromatic sage, with a few well placed boulders and bristlecone pine trees.
I only mentioned all this because of Bruce’s shocking blog about that gold plated parking space, a couple of days ago.
I have a feeling that many people know how to live, but they live in a place that is essentially preventing them from living as they would like.
After all, we can’t all live in a beautiful mountain valley with clean clear air, awesome night skies, and pure water out of the faucet, can we?
BTW, this place is a well kept secret, in a community of 22,000 people, with a mall and everything else we expect – and the cost of living here is one-fourth the cost of living anywhere else in Southern California.
If you’re curious about all this, come for a visit. Just email me.
Cheers!
Roger
