It was revealed today that out of the top one hundred April Fools hoaxes that are listed at the URL above, the one at MyMac.com will take the number one spot this month.
Hundreds of thousands of hits at the site of the latest April Fools joke at MyMac.com inundated its servers for several hours on the First of April this year, causing several news agencies to pick up the story, which was a short blog by a writer at MyMac.com.
The joke was in the form of a free source of electricity utilizing Nicola Tesla’s Ground Generator, which is a rather obscure unworking invention by the famous discoverer of electricity and inventor of Alternating Current. The hoax pretended that by adding modern electrical devices such as an off-the-shelf phase shift converter and a DC/AC power converter to a ground generator and a Telsa Coil, a subsequent 440 volts of AC electricity could be harvested continually from the ground.
However, the author of the blog,

has said that the device and his blog is not an April Fools joke at all, and in fact several hundred local residents in his community have build these ground generators and have gone off the California Edison power grid.
There may be some truth to his remarks, because Edison is currently seeking an injunction in court against those who are using these Ground Generators, saying it is both illegal and dangerous for the public to possess such devices to power their homes.
In which case, the joke will have been on us and the Museum of April Fools Jokes.
