Three Musketeers or Milky Way?

I haven’t eaten a candy bar since Shiva knows when, because of Atkins and all, you know. But with all the Halloween chocolate left over I decided to do a comparison between the leftovers. For the record, I bought four bags of Halloween candy: Mini Snickers, Mini Three Musketters, Mini Milky Way and Mini Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. The Reeses Peanut Butter Cups disappeared almost immedately. Is it the packaging? Nah, it was my husband. The kids didn’t have a chance.

So, kids showed up at the door and I gave them a choice. Snickers won hands down. Here I am left with a bowl of Three Musketeers and Milky Ways. (And a few Snickers buried, because for a long time they have been my own favorite.)

Naturally, being a true blue American grown-up hippie chick on a November evening before election night I have no choice but to correlate the remainder of the Halloween candy with the general election being held tomorrow. (Is that too much of a stretch? Well, I do have a punch line coming.)

Tonight after dinner, in the interest of fair political process, I decided to eat a Milky Way and a Three Musketeers. Just to taste the difference. Now, the Milky Way has a thin layer of caramel between the chocolate and the whipped sugary center, which holds an advantage because of well, caramel. But the Three Musketeers, with its all whipped center, also holds an advantage because its just all whipped creamy center, and no caramel to drip on the chin as you draw it so delectably from the mouth. Which one to choose, which one to choose?

Three Musketeers has the shiny silvery packaging, which is a flash advantage for it. However, the Milky Way does have the solid and steady brown and white packaging.

The polls are still at a draw.

If George Bush were Three Musketters and John Kerry were Milky Way, I’d be hard pressed to choose between them. Creamy center or delectable drippy caramel, despite that they both pretty much taste the same. Too bad we didn’t have a Snickers candidate. You know….(wait for it…)

One with nuts.
