The Signs of Spring.

According to the weather people, and the man made device known as the Calendar, it is now spring time. And it truly is spring time here in New England. All the classic signs of spring are here. To Wit:

•Last Thursday, It rained, sometimes in style similar to the Monsoon of southeast Asia, for twenty hours. There were many floodes basements, and flooded out roadways. Almost the entire town of Peabody MA, is under water.

•It was cold, cloudy, and raw the entire weekend. This is the type of wind which hurts when it hits you. There was some freezing rain in the air.

•Last night, there were a few flurries, which then froze, convering cars and sidewalks with chunky ice. Of course, the TV weather people were just about wetting their pants of the prospect of a few snow flakes. Uh, just how many times in five minutes can someone say “Live Doppler weather Radar”?

•No, not a single robin sighting. The Grackles are generally the first to show up anyway, but no. All the birds who technically should be here by now are staying put. Smart, they are.

Yep, nothing like spring time in New England.
