I was out planting the dog tonight when my son drove up with the grandbrats. He brought the baby girl in the house, “Hi!” she brightly said, but the boy was outside screaming. Welcome to my neighborhood!
The grandson loves to dig, so I had hoped to entice him out of the driveway by offering the shovel and some flowers. No deal. He ran around the car with me walking after him, trying to reason with him. How does one reason with an angry three-and-a-half year old?
I finally convinced him to scream against the front bumper of the car so my son could watch him from inside the house, and went back to my planting.
We had Oreo cremated, and I wondered what to do with her ashes. I finally decided to sprinkle them on her favorite place she had scratched out under the tree in the backyard, and plant a flower garden. Tonight was the night!
I prepared the ground by digging up the weeds, then sprinkled her ashes. I added some topsoil, pearlite and peat moss (this IS the desert you know, no decent soil to be had), and raked and dug it all to what I hope will be adequate. Later on I’ll go somewhere on the river to find some river stones to line the OreoGarden. She loved the river.
The annoying little barkey dog Lucie came and laid down in the middle of the flower garden I had just planted! I forgave her. She misses her dog. Did she know her lesbian dog sister was there? (Can dogs be lesbian? They were both neutered, and they kissed a lot.) Who knows the answer.?
The recalcitrant grandson was rescued by his mother. She is such a wonderful daugher-in-law. Always calm. I have no idea how my son got so lucky to have such a wonderful wife as her.
So. The dog is planted. The grandson hopfully is calmed down. The son should count himself lucky. The neighbors, I suppose, are still annoyed.
Next I should clean out my download folder. The thing about computers is they get as dirty as a house. I’ve been wanting to write about that for a while. Maybe next time, maybe not.
Stay tuned.
