Thank you, Peter Jackson!

Ahh, another entertaining afternoon spent watching the first viewing, locally, of Peter Jackson’s latest …”The Return Of The King”! Excellent!

While the family and I enjoyed the 3rd and final installment, it occured to me why I always enjoy the 2nd viewing more than the first of each of these movies …it’s probably because I’ve read the books so many times over the past 30 years that when watching the first time, my familiarity with the books causes a “distrubance in the force” each time the movie varies from the literal flow of the books. I”m thinking about what will happen next, or anticipating something I’ve imagined so much in my mind and when something else happens, I find myself wondering whether or not I like the change.

But once I’ve watched the movie the first time, then the next time I watch it I’m able to just relax and enjoy whatever it is that Peter and Crew do to make these movies into epic films.

And thus, I’m actually anticipating the next time I go to watch this movie with greater interest than today’s! (The 3rd and 4th times are also good, but I’m just picking up details I missed before.)
