According to a recent New Yorker article a Three Stooges movie is in the works. The green light has been given to the Farrelly brothers who pitched the idea as ‘Dumb, Dumber, Dumbest’ I’m not sure how I feel about this, I love the stooges and I am very skeptical that anyone can improve on the classic shorts they made. Improvement isn’t really required, heck I doubt anyone could do anything as well as the stooges did. Basically I’m afraid that the stooges will get turned into this (and boy did that movie suck).
The article mentioned Russell Crowe as a possible Moe.
Ye Gods NO! Sure, I understand Russel Crowe is a hot commodity and all but Moe? MOE? No way. The second choice is Mel Gibson. Surprising, who would have ever thought Mel Gibson likes violence? Oh wait he made Braveheart, AND Braveheart USA AND Braveheart Viet Nam.
Neither of these choices would be my top picks for Moe. For MOE you need an egomaniacal control freak. So if it’s not Donald Trump you probably need the next best thing, say Laurence Fishburne. For Larry I’d go with Kelsey Grammar, he looks kinda close, and since Larry does all the real acting Kelsey is the perfect choice, he can ham it up with the best of them. The movie is going Curly, which is too bad cause I like Shemp the best (I liked Curly more when I was younger but as I aged I became Shempified). I can’t imagine who you could cast for Curly. The best I can come up with is George Foreman.
I hope someone else can come up with better picks than me. Of course if I could cast a decent movie I’d be a casting director instead of a stay at home parent/loser.
