Dear Jenny:
Very happy to meet you! It is not everyday I get to meet such a beautiful, bright and charming woman, who is so well read and who leads so active a life. You have honored me with our meeting.
Usually, when someone says they are a fan, you tend to want to tell them to ‘get a life.’ But you have raised my understanding of the concept of a ‘fan.’ Thank you for that, and for the opportunity to meet you in person.
I agree with you that most of the people who read the writing here at MyMac.com are exceptional people – thinkers, creators, artists, and musicians. So many of the individuals I have met at this webzine and online here on these blogs are gifted in many different ways. I am always amazed at the many different ways they use the Mac in their lives too.
I also agree with you about the current direction of Science Fiction. Somehow, the old school and the old writers are much to be preferred to most of the new ones. it seems that an essential spark has gone out of the genre. I wonder if anyone else will agree?
((You know, having a fan club is probably not the correct term here, especially since it has only one member – but, OK!))
=)
And, no. I am not really in need of a fan club. It is just nice to meet someone who enjoys what I write. Anyone of the excellent people here at mymac.com deserves this kind of allocade much more than I do.
When you said you had my stories printed out and bound into a book at Kinkos, I thought to myself, “I need to get me one of those!” That would be a nice thing to leave my family – for posterity, right? Everyone of the excellent writers here at MyMac should do the same thing. Or at least they should put all their work on a CD. Thank you for the idea!
I did love the expression on your face when I told you I had my own website, with A LOT more writing published there! The name of the website has my first name, and something about ‘borngraphics’ too. It is a common website. I used to be a commercial artist and animator, so the site is REALLY old, and has not been updated in a number of years – but it has a link to my updated writing page.
Hope you enjoy my site, but after all, most of my better writing is already here at mymac.com.
Now, if you REALLY want to read great writing, you have to begin to read Bailey, Lock, McCormick, Black, Glover, Seibold, Weeks, Casseres, Hillman, Kleiman, Serle, Rainbows, McPheeters, Farr, Martellaro, Nemerovski, Murnane, Paul, Marcantonio, Neil, Eaton, Rubin, Luciani, Walkowich, Fulton, Adelson, Howerter, Scheeler, Robertson, Long, and Williams.
I promise you, you will greatly enjoy these insanely great writers here at mymac.com, and perhaps find in them the true greatness you are seeking.
Best regards,
Roger
