Reflecting on 2005

2005 has been an interesting year, don’t you think? Pretty much everyone remembers where they were during 2005. Amazing.

2005 was the year the White Sox won the world series. 2004, it went to the Red Sox. Does anyone see a pattern here?

2005 was the year the price of gasoline at the pump went above $3.00.

2005 saw 40% of all Mexian citizens saying they wished they lived in the United States. The other 60% are already here.

2005 FEMA learned how to help whole cities in need – or not.

2005 had 26 tropical storms in the Atlantic, and 14 hurricanes.

2005 it was a century ago since Einstein prublished his General and Special Relativity papers, which we are still figuring out, and which nobody (yet) has come up with anything better. Better hurry. The year is almost over, if you want to make the century mark publishing your new theory of everything.

2005 saw Iceland disappear under the Atlantic ocean. 2004, it was Greenland and the Antarctic. Does anyone see a pattern here?

2005 “Podcasts” became a word in the dictionary.

2005 was the year Steve Jobs didn’t fire anybody at Apple Computers, but he made another bazzillion dollars on Pixar’s “The Incredibles.”

2005 saw President Bush tell America “We are turning the corner in Iraq.” 2004, he said “We are turning the corner in Iraq.” Does anyone see a pattern here?

2005 the CIA discovered that they have been using black highlighters all these years.

2005 46% of the people left homeless from hurricane Katrina are still homeless. 2004, 1.8 million people left homeless by a tsunami are still homeless. Does anyone see a pattern here?

2005 Tom Cruise learned to dance on couches, Tom DeLay learned to dance on the head of a pin, and neither of them took lessons from Tom the Dancing Bug.

2005 saw Apple Computers release new, smaller, faster Macs (the mini) and iPods (the nano). 2004, Apple released new, faster Macs and smaller iPods. Does anyone see a pattern here?

2005 I happily found a drug (Taxol) which arrested the growth of a bladder cancer tumor in the liver, allowing me to survive indefinitely with a terminal disease, as long as I remain on chemo. I could just dance. . .

2005, we landed a probe on a moon of Saturn. 2004, Congress began a probe on Saturn cars. Does anyone see a pattern here?

2005 MyMac magazine added 500 new and distingushed writers to its award winning staff – and three new readers.

How did you spend 2005? Comments? Patterns?

Remember, any year you wake up in is a good year.

Ahh, 2005. We barely knew ye. Such a short time you were with us. Seems like just a year ago, you came on the scene. . . Oh well. NEXT!
