Dear Apple,
WTF???
Sincerely,
Chris Seibold
That concludes the open letter portion of todays entry, if you’re Apple you can stop reading now.
I wasn’t surprised by the news but I am seriously disheartened. On one level it just doesn’t matter, why do I care what chip Apple puts in the box? Well one reason is, of course, because everyone else does. We’ve all been conditioned over the years to associate the computer with the chip. In the end finding out marketers lied to you is right up there with learning that Santa wasn’t dropping the presents under the tree. Something you knew intuitively but something a bit depressing to learn as a truth.
Now that is a cold and rational look. Of course the human psyche isn’t purely cold and rational. After all I want to secretly think I’ve found something better that no one else knows about. I want to be elite. I want to be cool. Even if I am horribly misguided the entire time. That mystique will soon be gone, we all *know* what the best architecture is now we’ll be arguing over who writes the best code.
I’m left wondering: is the PC mini a mac prototype?Proof of concept? A way to torque off your newest customer? The world may never know…
I did stumble over Intels new theme
