Nemo deletes a thousand email messages (on purpose)

Sunday, yesterday, I had a rare opportunity to clear out my two primary email inboxes. Total in “public” inbox was over 6,000, with over 9,000 messages in “private” account.

I was aggressive and ruthless, whittling and whizzing through a thousand in short order. This monumental task has been a dark cloud looming on the horizon for over a year, and I feel better for making a decent start.

Realized it’s more important to archive than to prune selectively, so I’m systematically setting up individual storage areas for all significant correspondents. They provide the bulk of incoming messages.

Will continue until both accounts are lean and easy to manage. Hope to provide guidance for those of you in similar or worse situation.

If you effectively manage enormous quantities of incoming email, I welcome your thoughts and advice in the Article Discussion area below.
