While our own intrepid writers and staffers are at the show, rubbing elbows with the other industry people, and generally having a good time, I wanted to take a stroll around the Mac web and find some of the other sites best Macworld Expo stuff. Here is a list of link I think you will also find worthwhile reading.
If all you are interested in is press releases spouting off the latest information from Mac vendor PR firms, MacMinute has a good collection of them, updated several times a day. Just don’t expect any real firsthand accounts of the show.
Macworld News sport many of the same press releases as well, mostly done up to look like original content, but they also have people reporting right from the showroom floor. Of particular interest is their coverage of iWork and iPod Shuffle. But seriously, for an event NAMED after that magazine, I would expect far better coverage. Where are the in-depth product looks? Where are the articles detailing what it is like to actually BE on the showroom floor for those of us who cannot make the trip? Come on, Macworld, get it together! Don’t MAKE me find investors and take over that magazine and website!
Macsurfer, of course, has a plethora of Macworld Expo links every single day. Check them out every few hours; you are bound to find new content there to quench your Expo thirst.
Macsimim News, Dennis Sellers’ new site, sports his always fun and interesting “Reporters Notebook” articles from Macworld Expo. This year is not different, very entertaining reads. His new site also post some news stories, though the best content is his opinion stuff. Dennis is, however, actually talking to companies and reporting that on his website. Dennis is old-school Mac, and he actually TALKS to people to get information, rather than posting company PR on his site. Nice. And thanks, Dennis, and please keep up the outstanding work. Some of the very best Macworld Expo coverage on the web today.
The Mac Observer is, of course, also covering the Expo. They have a special Macworld Expo 2005 page all set up and ready for you to check out, filled with company PR of course, but also interviews, special coverage, and much more. Excellent coverage, and some of the best on the web.
While not at the show, and being a website run by a party of one, As The Apple Turns is loaded with good Expo coverage, witty commentary, and as always, great links to other stuff. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.
A lot was made of Will Wheaton being at Macworld Expo in some capacity as a speaker. Like him or not (I still don’t understand why some people seem to have a problem with the guy, he is okay in my book!) you can check out what he is up to at Macworld at his site linked above.
IPodLounge is coving, as Owen Rubin put it, TOO MUCH iPod accessories at the show. If the iPod is what floats your boat, you should head over to their site and check out their coverage. They are doing a splendid job of covering the iPod market. (Speaking of iPods, did you know I co-authored a book? Yup! Check it out at Amazon.com!)
Inside Mac Radio are broadcasting their radio show from the Expo. Check it out!
(Hey, speaking of audio, did you take a listen to our own PodCast on the Mac Mini and The iPod Shuffle?)
PC Magazine writer Jim Louderback has also posted a SlideShow of his visit to Macworld Expo. Worth looking at.
MacTeens, a site many of you may have never heard of, is doing a great job with their Macworld Expo coverage. Nice site, highly recommended. They are also one of the few sites covering the Mac Gaming segment, something us old-folks here at MyMac have not done enough of I fear.
Wired is, obviously, covering the event. I liked this article , and there are links to other Macworld articles listed there as well. Check it out.
Gary Coyne is covering the event and writing some good articles for AppleLinks.com. Here is one you will enjoy reading!
MacNN is covering the show, albeit mostly linking to other content. (Sadly, they never link to us. I will show them, and link to them instead! HA! Take that, MacNN! Oh, wait…)
Our buddy Gene Steinberg (Actually, I don’t even know him, but some of our staff members do) over at MacNightOwl is covering the event and posting some interesting things to read. Check them out as well
Hey, that’s enough from me. If you have some good Macworld Expo links, please post them in the comments section below!
