Its probably only in California (where else?) that we have these little coin filled metal and plastic gambling machines at the end of all the checkout counters. They are not such a big deal. The most money I ever won was 99 cents, but that isn’t the point. You don’t even have to do anything to win. Just buy groceries and go to the checkout stand. As they ring up your order, you automatically get a chance to win some change.
Sometimes I only win a penny, or a few cents, but most of the time my winnings are over 50 cents, which is a great little surprize after spending a lot of my hard earned Social Security payment on those expensive groceries. (BTW, never buy name brands, and shop only on Thursdays for the best bargains.)
The market I shop at also is nice, as they always give me my paper change in a dollar amount, rounded down to the nearest dollar, so I win again.
I’m saving all my winnings, all those coins, like any good young and healthy senior citizen would do – for a trip across the state line to Vegas. In a couple of years, I will have a hundred dollars saved up. . .
=)
Regards, and Happy Friday to all
Roger
