Last night I didn’t post an entry. Was I tapped for ideas, did I finally realize my inherent lameness? Was I hypnotized by the last episode of American Karaoke? Nope, I was fighting my iBook in a battle that people will sing about for years.
I finally got around to installing 10.3.4 and once installed the iBook wouldn’t go. It would start but the little domino thing just kept chasing it’s self around and around. I let it go for four or five hours. Finally I started it up in firewire target disk mode and hooked it to the G4. Interestingly the G4 would boot off the iBook’s hard drive. So I fixed the permissions and did all the other stuff your supposed to do in this situation and fired the iBook back up, it worked. A great joy went over the land, yadda yadda, yadda. I suppose it’s the memory, I have read that OS X is fairly sensitive with regards to memory, even memory that shows up okay in Tech Tool can still be iffy. Hey, I’m no expert, that’s just some stuff I read. It would explain the behavior, if it was a bad install then the G4 probably couldn’t boot so the memory seems like the likely culprit. Either way it’s fixed and I’m happy. But by the time I had done all the iBook voodoo it was too late to post. I’ve got a stringent bedtime and all…
But I did note a few things before the sweet embrace of the suffucating pillow (the wife tries the old pillow bit every single night, when is she going to learn that I’m a smoker? C’mon smothering me for an hour or two with a pillow isn’t going to do the trick, oxygen deprivation is a way of life for me. I’m friggin yogi kudu or something)
I learned interesting stuff:
Tim got a book deal Go Tim. I will note it’s a book about iTunes and the iPod. Pretty boring stuff really… At least for Tim. Trust me if you ever talk to Tim on the phone you’d realize he’s lived a very interesting life. I’ll let Tim tell the stories but the one with the spitting cobra… (well I made that one up but, believe me,Tim has some great stories).
I also noted that the Pres’ campaign manager is selling her car to raise funds. I’ve taken to donating plasma.Twelve bucks a week adds up, in multiples of twelve…go figure.
Well that’s more ramblings than any one person should be subjected to. Time for links.
Game(s): For some reason I ended up playing logic games today. And one puzzle revealed the a very unsurprising fact: I’m a freakin’ idiot. See the smarter you are (so they say) the more difficult Petals Around the Roses is. I figured it out in thirty seconds (and I’m being generous here, I’m really that moronic)
A nice set of logic puzzles: Logic1net Pretty fun, solve one get another.
Interesting Stuff: WebSE It’s system 7 on the web…But will it play Glider? Actually I prefer System 6, someday I hope to score a SE 30.
Excellent article on the myths of SUVs: Big and Bad I think the author makes a few key mistakes but it’s still a very enlightening piece.
Lastly: I found this amusing…
CKS/BL tridiot rating: I’ve got a ton of amusing ways to present this but it’s very late. So I’ll just transfer the data from form the IBMpcjr: 121.098%
One last link: Buisness not a spelling error….
