I hate rumors, but…

I hate rumors. Ever since I was a little kid and took an early peek at a Christmas present under the tree and ruined half the fun of Christmas morning, I have frowned down on rumors. Rumors in the workplace are horrible things, never good for business. Rumors of this actor, or that actress, are boring and bordering on invasion of privacy, and not a little disturbing.

But rumors of all things Mac before each year’s expo are the worst. It does nothing but built higher expectation that are rarely, if ever, met. And so when Apple does announce a new product, be is software or hardware, and it does not meet or exceed the pre-Expo rumors, people feel cheated or let down. Rather than talking about how great the products are that Apple actually released, much time is spent on putting Apple down for not meeting the rumors. Not good, nor fair for Apple.

That being said, I can honestly say we don’t report rumors here, but we may write about them if they are widespread. If everyone is already talking about them, it moves beyond the rumor category and falls into speculation. Still, boring…

And yet here I am, linking to a set of pictures and video. What is this? Is it a fake? I don’t know, but it is interesting. I won’t comment on it myself, I will let you all do that in the comments below. But here are links to pictures of something with an Apple logo on it called the “iHome” as well as a short video, probably from a cell phone.

Interesting.
