BB gun goes awry…and links!

It’s been awhile since I posted something. If you’re wondering why, so am I. Just lazy I suppose. Of course my inactivity means I have a lot of diverting links to pass along (I accumulate and share, it’s just the type of guy I am).

First I wish to reflect on the days of my youth. When I was a lad, say fifteen or so, I spent the hot days of the Florida summer engaged in BB gun wars. I’m sure most folks have tried this at one time or another. You’d get your woefully underpowered Crosman or Daisy (really only fit to maim weak aluminum cans) agree on some pump limit (I think we went with a two pump limit) and basically hunt each other. It was great fun. I, being averse to pain, used the second shot tactic. My idea was to let the other guy shoot first, with nerves and all he’d usually miss (don’t try that tactic with these guys, I think they’re probably the best trained police force on the planet, just go peacefully). My opponent would be back to harried pumping, usually resulting in a pinched finger, while I dispatched him with relative ease.

Of course no BB gun war season is complete without a little spilled blood. My recollection is one of Scott Forester cornering Stephen Arrowsmith. Stymied Stephen begged off of the close range shot. Scott, a bit of a psychopath, agreed. He told Stephen to run, and began exceeding the two pump limit. I’d say Stephen had a good ten strides in before Scott let loose with the twenty pumper sniper shot. The BB lodged just under the skin right below the line of Stephens shorts. Stephen’s father, a dermatologist, removed the offending item none to gently with a scalpel. Then we all got into loads of trouble.

Thankfully we were armed with the low power stuff. If we had been armed with the newly popular 1,000 fps airguns the damage could have been much worse. Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself:

Compfused.com-Not The Best Idea Warning: very funny

I think I spent the next two weeks confined to my room reading comics. Which reminds me: A blog or so ago the CKS/BL tridiot rating was sponsored by bad comic book covers. Some fairly anonymous person e-mailed me a link for the worst comic book covers ever. The also opined that my e-mail address was difficult to ascertain. My e-mail has been really light lately so feel free to knock yourself out:

Oh the bad comic book cover link?

My fave:

One of the reasons I didn’t post anything new was that I got involved watching a pretty cool (though very long, 18 episodes!) flash movie that combines Pulp Fiction and Star Wars. If you like profanity and have a lot of spare time:

Yep, it’s clickable.

For a one shot, very long, very cool flick try Rockfish.

Again, that’s a clickable image. Great stuff for you science fiction hounds.

Time for general blog stuff:

Todays Game: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Okay the game’s not that great and it’s basically a shill for the Special Edition DVD but it has the cool music.

TV pick: Unbreakable I really liked this movie, well worth watching. ABC primetime.

All important CKS/BL tridiot rating:

Fork in eye potential: zero
