Back to Woodworking

First off I’d like to thank Vern for his advice. Using the Vern method of several passes with the router everything works out fine. Which is great for projects, but bad for reporting difficulties and/or maimings.

Vern also said that I was full o crap for recommending a table saw blade depth of 1/8″ above the stock. I found competing claims in my table saw’s owners manual and several other places. How to decide? Only one way: must do an experiment.

Experimentation is no problem, thanks Dr. Parks. Cut one piece of wood at the recommended blade height and another with a full three hand shredding inches of blade exposed. Net difference: zilch that I could see. Chalk another one up for Vern.

Vern’s other piece of advice: “don’t pay too much attention to the woodworking websites” seems to be on target. Apparently anyone who has hammered a nail considers themselves an expert in all facets of woodworking. Not me, if you see it here you know I read it elsewhere. I haven’t had an original insight since..Well okay, never. That’s not the point.

The actual point? At this point I’m hopelessly befuddled, I may have had a point at one time…

TV pick: Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
Okay, this movie pretty much sucks, raggedy man. But I have to ask: “Who rule bartertown?”
(bet no one can answer that question, stumped a pro film guy with that one)

Buy this Wedding Dress or just read about it. What do I care?
