The Block 1.1.1
Freeware

The Block is a simple (a little too simple) utility for the Macintosh. Any unwanted visitor on your Mac would not be able to get past the startup screen. The only problem with this extension is that it is an extension. Any avid user of the Macintosh would know that he could bypass extensions by holding down the shift key while restarting.

When that unwanted user starts up your Macintosh, it asks for a confidential password. The catch is that there is no password. The password does not exist. The only way to get past the startup screen, when it asks for your password, is to press open apple (on your keyboard), the letter “Y” and the “Power on/off key.” One advantage of The Block is that it does not add any preference file to your System Folder, nor will it change any part of your System. Also, there is no patch made to your System file.

The Block may cut it for the newly bought computer for the family, but it definitely won’t cut it for any person with knowledge of the Macintosh. Any shareware price on this would be a definite N0.
