GURU 1.2 (Guide To RAM Upgrades)

Freeware

First released a year or so ago, Newer Technology has upgraded their popular application GURU to version 1.2, whichadded some of the newer Macintosh models released as of late, including most of the Mac clone vendor machines as well.

GURU 1.2 is a very handy program to have if you are unsure what memory upgrades are available to you, or are are thinking of buying a newer Mac, and want some basic questions answered. When you first start GURU, you are presented with a list of choices where you can select a particular Macintosh model, from the 128K Mac to the PowerMac 9500/132, as well as many popular printers. When you select the machine you want information about, a window opens showing all the important information like processor, CPU speed, maximum RAM, monitor color density, power consumption, when that product line was introduced and terminated, and much, much more.

GURU 1.2 is a beautiful looking program, and the interface is top-notch. Even better, GURU 1.2 will test your memory, letting you know if you have a problem or not. GURU will even provide information on VRAM for each Macintosh model, as well as explain what the numbers in a memory part number mean! Very nice!
