With WinAaron, Bobby Kolling has created (with the permission of the authors of ~Aaron) an extension that will give your mac an almost perfect Windows 3.1 look. From what I can tell, this is simply the regular ~Aaron extension that Bobby Kolling “Hacked” with his own windows and icon’s. He did a great job!

Installation is easy. As with any Extension, simply drop WinAaron into your system folder, and restart. However, any time you add extensions, you always take the risk of a conflict or other problems. Extensions are the biggest culprits of system crashes and software conflicts, so be prepared for anything when adding them!

With WinAaron, your folders, windows, and trash can will take on a very Windows 3.1 look.(o.k., so Windows 3.1 doesn’t HAVE a trash or “recycle bin”!) A nice feature is the Microsoft flag on the 3D empty trash can, and the MSDOS icon when it is full. One problem is that the window scroll bars no longer function as they do in ~Aaron, but this is suppose to be a Windows like environment, so I suppose it is appropriate. The creator of WinAaron is only 14 years old, and states his artistic ability does not allow him to create a Windows 95 type of ~Aaron extension. Too bad, I would really like to see one!
