MyMac Podcast 520: You say it’s your Birthday

Another struggle with Guy and audio, but the GMen soldier on! What’s coming from Apple September 9? You have no idea and neither do they, but that doesn’t stop them from talking about it anyway. Guy tears apart a Mac Mini to add memory and a hard drive and much to his surprise it worked when he was done. Gaz buys an AppleTV for is daughter which naturally means they’ll be a new one very soon. Want to help out with the podcast? Check out the Patreon page for the show. Guy’s App PickTwistedWave Audio editor from TwistedWave $9.99. Record audio, add effects, use AudioBus to imort and export to other programs as well as export to others with lots of file options. If you record audio on your iOS devices, you should have TwistedWave
Gaz’s PickNot an App but a pick £40.00 GB, €49.00, $49.00, $69.00 NZ, $55.00 AU
People’s Pick: Allister Jenks likes Hyperlapse from Instagram. He thought he’d give this a go, even though he has a deep aversion to Facebook, including Instagram. It is a very simple app which takes a video and then speeds it up, with a little stabilisation for good measure. He was rather impressed with the results and once he saw that you can simply save the movies to your photo roll rather than be tied into Facebook & Instagram, he was sold. He uploaded one of his creations (apologies for the crooked horizon) to Vimeo.

MyMac Podcast 519 – A Tangled Web We Weave

On August 26, 2014, in Podcast, by The MyMac Podcast

Guy and Gaz have a nice almost not crazy talk about easy to use website development tools, but before that Gaz gets wet and cold and Guy realizes after the fact that his ISP gave him a cheap slow router with not so good Wifi. Guy takes his son back to college and it costs him a fortune, we get some great feedback from our listeners about last week’s show, AND we got a Skype call that is only mildly threatening! So it’s been a good week.

You’ll have to listen to find out what Chiroptophobia is, but the why they called the show that is still a mystery. Maybe they have a fear of naming things (no that would be Nomatophobia). The big 400th Podcast is coming up and Gaz and Guy can’t WAIT to give you people stuff for being so wonderful about listening to the show! However they seem to be able to make you wait until the 400th podcast actually happens. So far they have three companies willing to pony up some great prizes including BusyCal from BusyMac Software, the Co-Pilot iOS app from ALK Technologies , and MacKeeper 2012 from ZeoBIT Software. Then they go over a big list (but not a conclusive list) of the software they like on their Macs and why.

Dan Wood from Karelia Software comes on with the GMen and they have a great chat about Karelia’s SandVox version 2 which was just released. Dan generously offers a 20% discount for the whole month of May for MyMac Podcast listeners! Just type in “MyMac” in the adjustment section on the payment page. Tim asks for gas at a battery powered car maker. Skype has a Mac-only Malware Exploit AND gets bought by Microsoft. Seems like a match made in heaven. Lastly, we make fun of Steve Balmer…because we can.
