The future, what do you mean? How can we be in the future?
For decades many of us have been in awe of the possibility of the future. Not that long ago the thought of carrying a single panel computer capable of presenting music, film, books, and games was nothing more than science fiction.
I live by the belief that if man can envisage it, people can create it.
Of course, there is the possibility of going too far, as is famously shown in Planet Of The Apes, circa 1968.
For now we can sit back and relax with a small and hopefully harmless portion of technology that seemingly has the effect of enhancing our lives.

It’s a week of MyMac.com Podcast tomfoolery as many of the shows switch hosts! The Pocket-Sized Podcast was fortunate enough (though that should be taken with a grain of salt) to get Gaz and Guy, the GMen from the MyMac.com Podcast to cover his duties. For some reason, Guy talked about Sharepoint a Microsoft program, while Gaz being more sensible (another grain of salt is required here) talked about his new iPhone 4S. Samsung’s Dutch patent trolling got a bit of a talking to and just why the EU thinks that carrying two cables for iOS devices is better than one baffles them both. Guy knows why most Android devices will never be updated and both GMen are a little perplexed by the change in the name of the Macworld Expo to iWorld.

Gaz has a chat about the Liverpool Tweetup that went international with FaceTime to the US from an Italian/Spanish restaurant. It makes sense if you listen. Microsoft wants us to use Windows 8 with everything plus cheese and should you buy an iPad 2 with the the iPad 3 much closer than farther away? For as long as I have been using both versions of Word, one for Mac and one for Windows (yes, I use a Windows computer too), I have often wondered if they truly came from the same company. While they can read and write compatible files (mostly), their user interfaces have always been quite different, making it difficult to go from one version to the other and remember where all the commands are. Additionally, the two programs would leapfrog each other in features, almost as if they were competing with each other to see which could outdo the other with their latest features. And Word 2008 for the Mac seemed to completely miss the boat when it came to using some of the newer and cooler interface design elements of Mac OSX, almost as if the designers had never seen such a system. With Word 2011 for the Mac (Intel Macs only), most of that has changed.

This is a very anti-establishment show this time around as it seems Microsoft was probably listening last week as we criticized them and as a result, Skype was behaving very badly! They probably won’t be pleased with THIS show either as Guy goes through hell trying to get a product license for his LEGALLY purchased copy of Windows 7. No matter, lots of great stuff with an iChat chat, John Nemo’s Wife loves animals, and one of Gaz’s hard drive enclosures takes a dirt nap. Guy is very angry (SO angry!) with LodSys, the latest patent troll that takes a novel approach at getting money from Apple buy suing iOS developers and frankly we aren’t very pleased with Apple either as doing something as simple as a hard drive swap spins your fans to the max.
