So much NEW stuff that Apple has released! So much recorded stuff the GMen can’t play for you! What do these things have in common? Not much really, but it seemed like hype sells and we wanted in on the action! Gaz likes certain things and Guy likes other certain things. Listen to find out who liked what and why.

Guy’s Pick: The new Maps program really works well on the Mac. I needed directions to go pick up my son from a school function at an unknown area and it worked exactly as advertised. One button push to the phone in a much easier to navigate package!
Gaz’s App Pick:Not sure it’s available for people outside the UK but the BBC iPlayer and BBC’s iPlayer Radio. iPlayer (Video TV).
iPlayer Radio (& BBC Podcasts).
People’s Pick: From Erick Diaz Tweetbot 3.0, completely redesigned for iOS 7, with lots of nice features and a great new look. Only thing I don’t like is no iPad version yet. $2.99

Hoo HAH! A longer than usual podcast which is great for some of you and not great for others. Sorry or congratulations are in order for either one reason or the other. However it is just smack dab filled with Gaz and Guy shenanigans and tomfoolery. We talk about Google adding ads to their Map application in iOS because apparently that’s what they think people want and what Guy and Gaz are looking forward to in OS X Mavericks when Apple releases it.

Guy’s App Pick: Apple’s very own Messages program. Sure it has it’s quirks, but it’s relatively easy to use and serves across a variety of other chat services. If you have an AIM account you can do screen sharing easily. It’s what I typically use to help out a few friends online like my Brother Bill where we’ve collaborated on his website using SandVox
Gaz’s App PickBento is going Long live creating your own Database ;)
Ouistee AE Database Editor
People’s Pick: Peter Bird suggests Dialogue by Emiel Jansen $6.99 at the Mac App Store. This app connects your iPhone to your Mac over BlueTooth and then you can make calls from your Mac.

The Biggest Losers

On October 1, 2012, in Apps, Features, iOS, Opinion, by Guy Serle

With not much else to report on, tech blogs seem focused on two things concerning the iPhone 5/ iOS 6 launch. The first is that the iPhone was SUCH a disappointing launch with ONLY 5 million units sold the first weekend. ONLY 5 million sold. The only constraint wasn’t a lack of customers, but a lack of hardware. Apple probably could have sold another 5 million that first weekend if they had them, but they didn’t. So for analysts to claim that they should have sold 7-8 million is nonsense and apparently that’s the basis for their disappointment?
