eMedia Intermediate Guitar Method
Review

On April 25, 2003, in Review, by John Nemerovski

eMedia Intermediate Guitar Method
Company: eMedia Music Corp.

Price: $59.95 US

I have been playing and teaching beginner and intermediate level guitar for over 40 years. Learning this instrument is easy for most people who practice regularly.

Music students pay $15 – $50 per guitar lesson, and a lot of that money covers instruction and repetition that self-starters and motivated self-learners don’t need to spend. At under $60 US for comprehensive instructional and reference material, eMedia Intermediate Guitar Method provides exceptional value for these students.

I remember being lukewarm to positive in my appraisal of Volume One, the beginner CD in this series. It has been revised since then. If it’s as good as this Intermediate CD (Volume Two), beginners now have a much better chance of learning from scratch.

NEMO STRATEGY

On December 4 Nemo received an email PR announcement from Formac for a private offsite viewing of their new line of digital video and display products. The swanky W Hotel, across the street from Moscone Convention Center, was the designated location. Nemo had been trying to obtain review units from Formac for a year without success, and this was a real opportunity.

One week later email solicitations for Macworld PR meetings arrived from Maxtor, E-Book Systems, and Intego, followed several days later by requests from Exabyte, Macromedia, Aladdin, Roxio, Iomega, SmithMicro, Alias/Wavefront, eMedia, Sybex, Other World Computing, LaCie, Olympus, Peachpit, H-P, ProSoft and O’Reilly.

During Nemo’s first Macworld, in 2001, he ran around Moscone Center like a crazy person, conversing here and there and writing up the experiences in an ongoing manic conversation with our readers. At the 2002 conference Weeks+Nemo delivered an intense combined diary and essay of their days at Macworld, complete with pictures of varying quantity.

Spotlight on eMedia Music Company

On October 18, 2001, in Opinion, by Tim Robertson

It started about a month ago when a friend of mine, Tad, bought a guitar. He did not know how to play it, but said, “I had always wanted to play.” This reminded me of a program which we had reviewed right here at MyMac.com, a CD-ROM based guitar learning program titled eMedia Guitar Songs Vol. 1. I told Tad about the program, and he went and picked up eMedia Guitar Method 1. (Works on both Mac and PC.)
