OK, you’ve really grown to love your iPod and you use it all the time. You exercise with it, you run with it, you read a book listening to it, you ignore your significant other listening to it… but you really can’t throw your headphones on and drive around listening to your iPod in the car because most jurisdictions have certain prohibitions about wearing headphones and not being able to listen to the world around you. You know, like the sound of the siren on the police car or the ambulance that is approaching you but you can’t hear anything because you’re too busy zoning out to the music.

For well over two years now, I’ve been using a DLO Action Jacket for my iPod Shuffle, primarily when I’m running or working out. When I upgraded to an iPod Nano, 2nd generation, it was only logical that I also upgrade to DLO’s Action Jacket for iPod Nano, 2nd generation.
Running 2-plus miles, usually five times a week, can put the iPod under a lot of stress, primarily from weather and high moisture, as in sweat. I’ve learned that the DLO Action Jacket does a great job of preventing harsh conditions from impacting upon the iPod.

One of the first features that drew me to this iPod gadget was the battery charger. I listen my iPod (using a cassette player adapter) mostly in my car and I can’t count how many times the battery has come close to running down or out because I hadn’t charged it for several days. So when I saw that DLO’s TransDock micro would charge my 4th generation iPod while it broadcast my music , I wanted to check out its other features as a possible upgrade to my current transmitter.
My first impression of DLO’s TransDock was very good. I like the design and versatility of the device. On unpacking it I was concerned that if I plugged into my car’s cigarette lighter that it would get in the way of my gear shifter, but the adjustment screw enable me to secure a good fit. I was able to fit it into the cigarette lighter of my wife’s car as well, but because her lighter is near the floor, TransDock’s blue black-lit LCD screen was not as visible as it was in my car (the only function of the screen by the way is to display the radio frequency channel that you’re using or searching for to transmit music.) You can only adjust the transmitter vertically, so depending where your cigarette lighter is located, it could be a potential problem.

There was one primary reason that I finally joined the iPod craze and bought myself an iPod Shuffle. I run. Three or four times a week, I run 2 miles, sometimes a bit more if I’m really on a good run day. The reason that I wanted an iPod was that I was tired of carrying my portable digital CD player or my “sport” portable tape cassette player or wearing the headphone radio that I constantly had to turn my head sideways to get a station that I could listen to somewhat clearly while I was running.
With the iPod, I knew that running was going to be definitely more pleasant. So when I bought the Shuffle, I also bought Apple’s Armband, figuring that would work out great. Well, maybe if I wasn’t running so much, maybe it would. I constantly had to adjust the armband as it just didn’t fit tight enough, at least without me cutting off the circulation in my arm. If I wore a T-shirt and had it over the sleeve, it kept slipping down on me. Not really the way to enjoy a run, besides I began to think it was designed more as a formal piece of gear, maybe it was more useful if I was doing a stationary bike.
