Gracie! It's a girl!!!
As we went to "press" for this issue, Mike Gorman sent us an announcement that his daughter was born! From the whole staff here, Mike, we want to offer our congratulations and best wishes.

This issue is herby dedicated to Gracelyn Rose Gorman (aka Gracie) born on Friday, Sept. 25th. 1998. (And Mike? We want pictures!)

WWB Chat! Join the Chat!
Starting October 14th, My Mac will be hosting an online chat at World Without Borders! http://www.worldwithoutborders.com We are all very excited about this, and hope that many of you will decide to come and chat with us. Come talk about anything in the current issue, meet the staff and writers as well as other well known Mac users, and have a good time!

This is a new experience for us. We're not really sure what to expect. From your email each month, I know we will have some great discussions! I have also been in touch with some other well known Mac users to come join us, take some questions and chat for a while. While I can't give you any details as all this is still very preliminary, I can tell you it will be fun for all involved! The first chat, featuring Susan Howerter, kicks off the program. We may, as the chats progress, start to give away some free stuff, like software or books. Speaking of free stuff...

The My Mac Giveaway!
Starting THIS month, we will be holding a monthly giveaway. You will need to read this page every month to find out what you can win. We have joined up with the nice people at Peachpit Press http://www.peachpit.com who graciously provided us with the winning prize this month. So what can you win? This month, the prize is a copy of Mac OS 8.5, Visual Quick Start Guide!

New server!
As you may have read on the email page, My Mac has moved to a new Macintosh server thanks to the folks over at Innovative Technologies http://www.inno-tech.com. We have a list of new features planned over the next few months, so keep an eye on the website for the latest developments!

How's the iMac doing?
You've all probably heard by now that the iMac is doing a land-office business. When I checked my local CompUSA the other day, they confirmed that the iMac is the hottest thing they have. In just two weeks, that particular store had sold over 80 units, totally surprising the visiting PC salesmen who asked what the best selling item was. Now, I wonder how the Wintel reps are going to spin that ? ...

Free Nisus Writer!
Nisus Software, developer of Nisus Writer, has now posted Nisus Writer 4.1.6 online as a freeware version of its well known product. Go to http://www.nisus.com/nisusdl/login.asp?new=yes

The process is relatively painless. You fill in the form that's online, have your browser set to accept cookies and you must also be willing to accept email from Nisus regarding their products and updates. Check it out!

Where's Pete?
Pete Miner, our intrepid full-time truck owner/operator and columnist, has been extremely busy for the past month, driving his rig all over the West coast and the Midwest. He promises to be back in My Mac as soon as he drops off the last brand new car he's delivering to the dealer...

New Writers!
This month, My Mac would like to welcome Ralph J. Luciani as a new regular writer. If Ralph's first contribution titled "A Computer Fairy Tale" is any indication, he will quickly become a favorite writer of yours. Yes, I think he is that good! So welcome, Ralph, to My Mac. I hope you enjoy your time with us.

Also new (with a web page exclusive review of the iMac this month!) is Jacob Pierce. Jacob is a very talented writer, and we look forward to presenting his reviews in upcoming online editions. Welcome to My Mac, Jacob! Now, about one of the two iMacs you own...
