MyMac.com Spotlight: Dan Meyers

Who are the people behind the technology that we love so much? We know the products, the websites, the online personalities but we want to learn more!

Every week here at MyMac.com, we will spotlight a company, developer or person that supports Apple users by creating solutions or entertainment for the Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and other platforms we all use and love by asking them to answer seven questions.

This week, we turn our attention to Dan Meyers, Director, Meyers Apps

1 – How did you get your start in technology?

I started writing software on a Commodore 64 during the summer holidays. I have always found programming fun and knew it was want I wanted to do once I left school.

2 – What is your favorite computer of all time?

It has to be the first Mac I used, it was a Mac Classic, which my Dad borrowed from his work, it had a 9-inch black & white screen, 1 MB of RAM and a 40 MB HD – it was amazing!

3 – Tell us about your latest product

We have recently released an update to Doppel, our high-speed duplicate detector. Unlike other duplicate detectors on the market, Doppel keeps an index of previously scanned files so future scans only need to compare new items.

4 – What was your first job?

I started at a small software house which specialised in the development of software for the HVAC industry.

5 – What advice would you give to younger people just getting into technology?

Technology is a great field to be in, it is constantly growing, there is something for everyone and there are no wrong answers, just new ways of doing things.

6 – Who was your inspiration?

The same answer as most people who develop for Mac, Steve Jobs, I would also have to include Elon Musk and Tom from MySpace.

7 – Where can people follow you online, and what is your website?
