As much as I love my iMacs and MacBooks, the number of USB ports included on my favorite computers leaves a bit to be desired. Minimalism is “in” at Apple, but that’s not necessarily practical for the rest of us. As a result, I’m always looking for a newer, bigger, and better USB hub to accommodate all of my flash drives, printers, and other USB-powered devices. I recently had an opportunity to take a closer look at the Satechi 10 Port USB 3.0 Premium Aluminum Hub, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Satechi’s 10 Port USB 3.0 Premium Aluminum Hub has seven USB 3.0 ports to connect your devices to your Mac or Windows computer. With a transfer speed of up to 5.0 GB per second, you will be impressed with the speed boost you will see over ordinary USB 2.0 ports. With seven of them, the average user should see all of their USB needs met and then some.

Just so you don’t have to unplug devices in order to charge your phones or tablets, the hub also includes three ports dedicated to charging portable devices. These three ports are designated in red on the hub and include a 5V 2.1 amp port for charging tablets and two 5V 1.0 amp ports for charging portable phones.

After having used the Satechi 10 Port USB 3.0 Premium Aluminum Hub for several months, I’m most impressed with the ability to neatly plug all of my peripherals into one well-designed and neat looking hub. The brushed aluminum design matches well with the designs of Apple’s product line. It’s also compact and doesn’t take up much space on your desktop.
