Apple recently released new iPhones, which means there’s a whole lot of new cases, covers, and bumpers on the market. Today I’ll be reviewing two products from Macally for the iPhone 6: the Flexible Protective Frame and the Metallic Snap-On Case.

The Flexible Protective Frame is a polycarbonate bumper that protects the edges of the iPhone. Raised buttons make it easy to use the volume rocker and on/off/sleep switch. The openings for the speaker, lightening connecter, and headphone jack are large and easily accessible. If you frequently use the ring/mute button grow out your fingernails, as you’ll need them to reach that button. Not a deal breaker, but something to keep in mind.

At first, getting the Flexible Protective Frame on my iPhone 6 was a bit of a challenge. Taking the bumper off was more so. I was afraid of breaking the screen; however after spending some time putting the Flexible Protective Frame on my iPhone and removing it, it’s become simpler. Just not simple.

Overall, I like the Flexible Protective Frame. It’s very comfortable to hold, and protects my phone while allowing me (and others) to delight in the beauty that is my Space Grey iPhone 6.

Next we have the Metallic Snap-On Case. Like the name implies, just snap your phone into the case. And like the Flexible Protective Frame, the Metallic Snap-On Case is made of polycarbonate, and protects the back and sides of your iPhone 6. Large side cutouts make it easy to reach all buttons. The bottom is totally exposed except for the corners, so no worries docking the phone or using headphones with a strange shaped 3.5mm audio jack.

My iPhone 6 was easy to hold with the Metallic Snap-On Case, but unlike the Flexible Protective Frame, it doesn’t feel grippy. I never worried about dropping my phone, but I had started to get used to the feel of the Flexible Protective Frame.

Macally claims on their web site that the Metallic Snap-On Case won’t show fingerprints, and they’re right. The case still looks as clean as the day I got it. If only that were true of the screen!

Choosing a bumper or case for your iPhone is a very personal preference. Both the Flexible Protective Frame and Metallic Snap-On Case are lightweight, inexpensive, come in a variety of colors, and are good choices for your iPhone 6.

MyMac.com Review Rating: 8 out of 10 for both.
